6.01 And Here Is The News

Jessica had assumed that Mia in her human form would be shy and nervous around people. The real Mia was far from timid, which brought forth a sigh of relief from Jess. Mia was far more observant than Jess had ever given her credit for, and her ability to impress herself upon people and fit in with new people amazed Jess.

Mia flitted around the room introducing herself to new people as Jessica watched on in amazement. Jess had had some doubts as to whether or not bringing Mia to university life immediately after granting her wish to become real was a good idea or not. Watching Mia make friends at a rapid rate dissolves any last niggling worries.

Mia even managed to ingratiate herself with the bitchy, stand-offish types, of which there appeared to be a lot of at this years meet and greet.

Just as Mia and Jess were prepared to go inspect their accommodation, a portly guy in a mascot uniform introduced himself to Mia. "Hi, I'm Shelby Sullivan, could you imagine a world where we were friends?", he asked cryptically, putting emphasis on certain words. Jess waited forty five minutes until Mia and Shelby finished their 'introduction'.

"He is so dreamy!", Mia burbled as she skipped along behind Jess who was following the map. "Did I mention that he is a real doll?", giggled Mia. "Hrmm, can I borrow your hands, I seem to have run out of fingers to count the times.", Jess laughed back. Secretly, she was a little annoyed, Jess was at uni for the second time, and Mia who had been real for two minutes already had a sweetheart. Any thoughts of jealousy soon faded when she realized where she was standing.

This is the same house as she had stayed in last year. The house was currently empty, although as she climbed the stairs she noticed that all the bedroom doors on the second floor had had name tags taped or otherwise stuck to them. The only available room was the one formerly used by Cindy and Coral. Jess swung open the door.

Other than dust free, the room was pretty much as she remembered it, Cindy's Buzzberry plant was even still here. It looked as if someone had been watering it, and helping themselves to the berries and leaves, but it was still here!

"Hey guys, I just got a text from Jess!", Coral announce, "You'll never guess where she is staying!"

Coral read the message out loud detailing the accommodation and the fact that Cin's Illegal Buzzberry was still there, and the fact that it was a lovely warm summers day, compared to the cold wet 'Hollow'. The section regarding her old childhood friend Mia, that she was referring to as cousin Mia started an intense discussion among the group.

Coral showed the picture around as the discussion rolled on. "Who is Mia?", Coral asked. "When we were younger she told us that her doll talked to her and even moved around but nobody could see it but her.", Evie began to explain. "Yeah, and you told her she was 'bat shit crazy', I remember because Sally threatened to wash your mouth out with soap!", interjected Delilah. "I believed her because I knew somebody that said it happened to them and then the imaginary friend was made real.", Cindy interrupted.

"Anyway.", Delilah took back the tale, "Because her father had this secret fear of transforming into a cannibal monster, she kept it quiet after that". "What are you talking about?", Evie butted in. "Where did you hear that?", Cindy asked in shock. Cindy had always had a secret crush on Edward growing up, and to hear that blew her mind.

"Look I hear things, you know, cat form, people say things in front of animals that they wouldn't say in front of people, anyway, I knew she was going to try give Mia a real form, she needed my help finding some of the ingredients for the formula.", Delilah continued to explain. "Whatever mental issues Jess' Dad had has been cured, but that's why he freaks out when there's more than two or three people standing near him, even us, but it's totally a secret, if anyone leaks it bitches, I'll wreck you!", Delilah growled fiercely.

Left To Right: Joanie Arc, Kerry Good, Carlee Beauty, Mia Salter, 'Mumma' Khalilah Sanders, Rachelle Luna, Nicole Lawry. P.S. first day here is 26 degrees, Miss you all back in the Hollow, Don't miss the weather!

Jess rang Kim and Edward to notify them of her arrival and settling in, though she failed to mention anything regarding Mia. Her research so far had not been able to find any relevant information on the legal status of imaginary friends turned real.

Jessica watched as Mia devoured book after book at amazing speed, her appetite for learning easy outpaced the Vampire who was here doing a double degree. "Wait, are you reading recipe books?", Jess asked after a solid night of study. "Yes I am.", Mia stated simply. "If I can learn how to be a good cook, I can then teach Joanie how not to burn everything, or what amounts of ingredients to use. The kitchen smells terrible every time she tries to make or cremate something and it makes me want to vomit."Mia explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Jess grinned, "It does, doesn't it!".

Mia went back to her reading.

She was keeping apace of the required reading material as well reading another few books a day.
She had also recently discovered comic books, and took some time out to read the latest "Chronicles Of Simzilla", #141, that she had purchased from 'Keiths Comics', after a class there.

Jess was able to keep up with her heavy class schedule, there was only one class conflict, and she alternated between the two after explaining to her lecturers, who didn't care as long as she kept up with both classes. Jess thrived under the pressure of juggling both degree at once. Mia kept meticulous notes for Jess on the Technology classes that she missed due to her schedule, and Jess got her missing Fine Arts notes from Rachel who was primarily studying to become a chef.

"Hey wake me up if the lecturer ever shows!", Mia asked as she napped through a class without a teacher.

Eventually Mia grew bored and took over the class herself in her own peculiar quirky way, she covered the material that she had read ahead on in the text books, and gained popularity with many of the students who though she was far more entertaining and educational than the missing lecturer.

Jess and Mia went to Steve's Gym, not only did Steve give Jess an extension on her free platinum membership, recognizing her from the year before, but he gave Jess 'Cousin' a free platinum as well. "I'm in a good mood, 'Rick the dick' just got arrested and sent to jail for selling steroids. He has been bad mouthing this place for a while. Oh and if you see your friend with the noodley arms, Cindy was it? Tell her lift record still stands here!".

Mia worked on her cardio, "I am going for a long bike ride with Shelby on the weekend, and I've never ridden one before, so I think I need to build up to it.", Mia explained.

Jess was happy that Mia had found a soul mate so soon, while she herself had never found a guy that did it for her. She sunk herself back into her studies.

It was time for Jessica to call or send her weekly text to her Dad, and to her friends back home. She put down her text book and flicked the TV off just as the voice over announced "And here is the news!". The last month had been pretty boring, Mia had gone out to a few parties, mostly with Shelby, but Jess had stayed home and studied, while she was still holding top grades in both courses, it was time consuming work to do so. She narrowed down a small group of images, added text, and sent them off.

'This is me studying in the morning!'
'This is me studying late at night!'

'This is me studying in the middle of the day!'

'This is me having breakfast, and studying!'
'This is me chillin at the bar!"

Author's note:

'Noodley arms!!!!' - I finally use the word 'noodley', after reading it on SlashBangHorror's (Toolsie) 'The McKracken Legacy' @ Toolsieplaysthesims3.blogspot.com

It was intended to be used in "Do you even lift?", but some how I published without using one of the coolest words in the universe! Thank you again to Toolsie for bringing this awesome word to my attention!

Jess's Double degree will be spread over three chapters, while I usually enjoy the first of the two weeks in-game time at uni, the second week is usually a boring trial of trying to keep grades up while constantly being invited to parties that do not happen, you get a reminder text an hour before the party starts, but does the sender of said text ever remember to show up? Of course not.

Also, graduations are borked, with both times Jess went to uni, she didn't officially graduate until after she had arrived back in Midnight hollow. Because of this I intend to buy her third degree with life time points and just pretend she did a double degree rather than do Uni three times in a row to achieve the Generation Goal.
