6.12 I Don't Mind Sharing

Jess headed to the local fairgrounds with her charity tip jar. She wore her new performing outfit. The old one navy blue one had started to show signs of wear, and Jess had the new one made in her favorite colors. Jess cut a lap of the park, greeting the stall operators that she had become friends with over time.

She stopped to discuss the lack of patrons due to the weather with Anita at the ticket booth.
"At this rate, the fair is barely going to break even!", complained Anita.

She said hello to Mike in the kissing booth, who was apparently a master of the art, although Jess only knew this from hearsay. That didn't stop Mike, who was a notorious flirt from trying to tempt Jess with a kiss.
"C'mon Jess you know you want to.", flirted Mike, "For §5, You'll get a kiss that will sweep you off your feet, and for §15 I can take you to the moon and back, you get an amazing kiss, the school gym gets a donation, and I get the satisfaction of knowing I kissed the prettiest girl in town!"

"Nice try Mike, I bet you say that to all the girls", Jess laughed. "Well, I have been practicing my sales pitch in case the rain stops and this day ever brings a customer.", admitted Mike.

Lola who was working the kissing booth opposite sighed when Jess approached, "If that man wasn't dating my brother, I'd be so tempted to try straighten him out.", Lola confessed to Jess.

Jess continued her stroll around the park.

And eventually returned to her regular spot  to await the arrival of town folk or tourist.

Yup, unless the sun came out, it was going to be a very quiet day.

Jess gave up on her attempts to raise funds by midday.
Her only audience for the last four hours were Mike, Lola, and Anita.
When she returned home, Cindy was wrestling with the antique fortune cookie
maker. Jess couldn't help but notice that Cindy's hair style was already beginning to grow out.

"Your Dad asked me to make a batch of these for some fishersims party that he is having, do you want to deliver them, or shall I?", asked Cindy. "Say Hi to my Dad and Kim for me, I have an appointment at the council offices", responded Jess.

Jess woke up with a start, she side-eyed the alarm clock that she had failed to set the night before. She had been up all night finalizing plans for the next few weeks, and had triple checked the paper work before crashing into a restless sleep. Jess had been so busy lately with everything, that she was starting to feel a little run down. She slipped on her dressing gown and tip toed across the hallway to an unusually quiet room.

Jess turned the doorknob and gently opened the door, the first thing that she noticed was that her children were already dressed and playing happily. The second thing that she noticed was that Cindy had taken care of her babies while she had slept.

"Thank you so much for looking after them.", Jess gushed."You're welcome, you looked like you needed the sleep, in fact you still do, you go back to bed, I got this.", Cindy said firmly.

Jess did as she was told and crept back to bed to recharge her batteries. She dozed off into a dreamy world. Jess sat on a horse at the base of an extremely tall but skinny stone tower. She looked up to the one window and called out, "Hyacinth, Hyacinth, let down your hair!.", and a cascade of shiny green hair tumbled from the window to form a rope.

"What time is it?", Jess asked. "Well, you've slept through breakfast, and nearly missed lunch.", Evie pointed out. "That's fine, she needed the sleep." Cindy told Evie. "Besides, I saved you some Dim Sum", Cindy said. Cindy brought Jess a serving. Jess couldn't help but notice how much Cindy's hair had grown over the course of the day.

Cindy released Melissa and Nerissa from the high chairs. The toddlers were due to age up to children and hand already mastered the skill of 'spoon aiming', which meant much less clean up after meals.

"You know she has a thing for you right?", Evie whispered across the table to Jess. "But I'm not gay, at least I don't think I am?", Jess statement sounded more like a question. "Having sex one time with a guy a few years ago doesn't exactly make you straight either, and besides, I didn't know I was gay until I first kissed Delilah.", Evie whispered back.

"You think because Delilah and I are constantly traveling for work that we don't notice you sneaking looks at Cindy, or Cindy watching you when she thinks nobody is looking, C'mon, Delilah and I both know what's going on here, even if you and Cindy won't admit it.

"I.. I couldn't be with some one who sleeps around constantly, I'd expect my partner to be faithful to me", Jess insisted in a hushed tone, grasping at the one true reason that had stopped her considering Cindy as a partner, despite the many dreams that she had had.

When Cindy announced that she was putting the girls down for a nap, Evie led Jess into the kitchen and opened one of the cupboards, Jess looked inside to see a large cardboard box marked 'BumperBunny Industrial Strength Batteries'. The box was nearly empty. "As far as Delilah and I know, Cindy stopped 'speed dating' the day you went into labor.", Evie stated.

Cindy tucked the twins into their cribs, unaware of the kitchen conversation.

Cindy returned to the dining area, filled Jades food tray , washed her hands at sat at the table next to Jess. "Okay, what were you two muttering about when I came in?". "Just checking that Eve and Delilah still both have the next week off  for my surprise tomorrow.", Jess said a little loudly. "And you, you have a gardener organized for the week?". Cindy nodded. She had no idea were Jess had planned on taking them all for the week, and was trying to keep her excitement as hidden as Jess' holiday destination.

Delilah returned from her work trip in Monte Vista just in time for the twins birthday, and somehow had managed to do so without incurring any speeding fines.

When Thing 2 and Thing 1 Nerissa and Melissa aged up, they kept their identical twin looks and developed the same new trait. Eve and Delilah agreed the twins were so identical that they couldn't tell them apart, as such, they presented the twins with new Dr. Suess T-shirts.

"Okay, don't look at the camera, look straight ahead.", advised Jess as she fiddled with the settings on her very complicated camera. "You already have photos of us together, why do you need individual shots, especially when we are identical?", groaned Melissa. "That's for me to know, and you to find out Melissa.", Jess replied.

"I'm Nerissa, not Melissa!", insisted Melissa. "Seriously, you call yourself our mum, and you can't even tell us apart!", added Nerissa. "Very funny ladies, but I learned to tell you apart within days of getting you home from the hospital, so that prank won't work on me. Do you understand Melissa? Nerissa?", Jess pointed out, looking at each one as she spoke their names.

Nerissa turned to Melissa, "Well their goes some of the best teenage pranks we ever planned!"

Jess raced the photos in to town, along with the final documents and her friend announced that she would have the passports ready to pick up at 9 AM the next day.

The next day saw the Jettstar household arriving in Champs Le Sims, France.
"This room is nearly bigger than the apartment I stayed in at the Starlight Shores Grand!", Eve stated.
"This room is bigger than the room I had at the Bridgeport!", Delilah gushed. Both of them were happy that Jess had chosen a more homely place to stay than a skyrise hotel.

Nerissa called dibs on the top bunk for the first night, Melissa was so happy to be somewhere completely new that she didn't bother negotiating.

"Three rooms, two with double beds, and one with a double bed and bunks!", Jess repeated trying to stay calm. "Yes Madam, three rooms, two wiz zee double beds, and one room wiz zee double bunks, three rooms non?", replied the equally calm voice on the other end of the call. "A double bed and bunks, there is not enough beds.", Jess tried to explain. "I am sorry Madam, this is all zee beds, we 'ave no more.", the Frenchman explained. Jess muttered "Okay, thank you.", and hung up.

"It's okay, your on holiday, no stress okay?", Cindy said soothingly, "I don't mind sharing.", she added.
"But what if you decide that you want to bring somebody or a bunch of somebodies home for the night, or if by some absolutely amazing miracle, I do?", asked Jess, still frustrated by the fact that the management had messed up the sleeping arrangements. It wasn't the fact that she would be sharing a bed with Cindy, in fact she was kind of hoping for it, but her plan had involved have separate beds to go back to for the rest of the week if things didn't work out the way they had in her dreams.

"I told you, I don't mind sharing.", Cindy repeated with a cheeky grin, as she wiggled her eyebrows.

Jess was about to return a similar cheeky comment when her phone beeped with an overseas message. Kim had sent her a photo of the activities in the backyard, that included pool safety fencing and playground equipment for the twins.

Authors Note:

Apparently having 723 non selectable sims in Midnight Hollow was causing my game to take more than 2 x longer to load and save. By selective culling I got 48 minutes down to 22, from the time I select 'play sims 3' and I see my household, and from 16 minutes down to 8 minutes woth save as.. I used NRAAS MC/ Total Annihilation / Homeless Non Service to kill off 370 sims, and also 48 from the 'stranded couples' area. Now my 122 actual residents can breathe easier. Both Eve and Delilah lost all of their co-workers and had to build them up again. I consider that a minor inconvenience to have more than 10 minutes playtime. After playing in midnight hollow for around three hours, my household went to France for a holiday. After being there for 10 minutes, the game crashed, but that's another issue :)

So...beware of overpopulation! It's a thing!

  1. I'm glad Jess finally decided to give Cindy a chance. It's been a long time coming. Great use of the "there just aren't enough beds" plot device. It's a classic for a reason.

    1. Yeah, the whole idea of going to France was for that one plot device, now I have to find something for them all to do for the next in-game week. I had an idea of putting Jess and Cindy together in uni, but it didn't gel at the time. Cindy has been autonomously looking after the kids since they where born, so... I thought I'd give it another try.

  2. Was that a Weasley twins reference I saw? Or am I just makings things up?

I'm looking forward to seeing where Cindy and Jess' potential relationship goes. I had honestly assumed once Jess' gen took over that she would be single forever (or at least as long as the twins were kids), but I had forgotten that "all bets are off" in the Full House roll, and that technically none of the relationships are set in stone...

  3. It was clearly the result of an overactive imagination, I would never hijack a line or idea from another story or movie! Okay, I confess, it's my favorite scene with George and Fred, I stole the line, I did it!

For Jess to have someone in her life I would have to have them live offsite, or eject one of 'the gang'. As you can tell by all the Coral scenes, I'm still having a hard time letting go of the last one. I am going to use the relationship freedom that comes with full house to put Cindy and Jess together, even though in my head Jess was the straight one. The game keeps telling me I'm doing it wrong!
