3.12 The Trials And Tribulations Of Teenagerdom

Natalie usually enjoyed her time at the van, exercising and refining her gifts, but today she had spent most of her time blocking minor visions. Her children turned into teenagers today, and her gift had a knack of wrecking surprises. She had glared at the clock on more than one occasion, willing the hands to move faster.

Nat skipped down the stairs to where her car was parked. Wasn't parked. She skipped back up the stairs into the van, turned around and skipped back down the stairs as if this might make the car reappear.

Her phone rang, and absently she answered it. "Why didn't you stop, I waved and you damn near hit me!", fumed Lil. "I..It wasn't...some bastard stole my car!", Nat replied numbly, "I suppose I should contact the police."

Natalie caught the bus home, to find that all her children had aged up into teenagers. 'More clothes, more washing, more food, driving lessons, cars, girlfriends, boyfriends, romance. junior prom.', Nat thought. At least she had prepared for the more washing, by buying a second washer and dryer.

The Grim Reaper

While the Grim Reaper came for Skitty, Natalie was on the phone to the Isla Paradiso
Police Department who had called to inform her that Marcus and Casey had
both passed away peacefully in their sleep during the night.

Any idea of going out to celebrate was soon forgotten.

The first day on junior high campus was mostly working out where classes were. The second day on junior high campus was mostly trying to remember every bodies names. The third day was a snow day, as was the fourth. The fifth day was also snowed out, but that didn't stop the prom. It did mean that our teen party goers went stag, as none of them knew anyone well enough to ask for dates.

"Orange is so not your color Ceci.", Sophia advised, as she dug through the makeup box for the three correct shades of pink. "But it is my color, it's my favorite color!", replied. Sophia rolled her eyes, Jen caught the gesture in the reflection and shrugged her shoulders.

Lilly-Rose pulled the scrunchie from her hair for a third, and shaking it our, tried again. "Up or down?", Lilly-Rose asked her sisters. "I'm just jealous that your hair is so much longer than ours." answered Jen. Sophia, the fashion guru to the stars and anyone else who would listened, lectured "With the diamond shape cutout of these dresses, you should wear it up if its curly, in braids if it is wavy and down if it is straight, however if the dress was shorter, or if the cutout was a deep V leading to shoulder straps then the reverse choices."

Ceci interrupted Sophia's recitation of every fashion magazine in the last week by saying, "You have a very pretty face Lilly-Rose, don't hide it behind your hair."

The boys were ready, they played games and talked about stuff while they waited.

Eventually it was time to go to the prom, the kids all piled into the Limo that Eric had hired for the night.

The only person thet they knew well was Uncle Elbert, who went inside in a huff,
after Sophia called him 'Uncle' in front of strangers.

Sophia got voted as Prom Queen, somehow got into two fights, but spent a pleasant evening dancing with Leonard Ronson, a handsome young werewolf junior.

Jen spent most of the evening in the arms of Oliver Worthington, whom she suspected was a witch, but didn't ask. Jennifer got into three fights, all started by girls that wanted to dance with Oliver.

Lilly-Rose managed to avoid trouble all evening, and danced the night away with Broderick Burchett-Sands, a young Vampire that was somehow related to a friend of her mothers.

Cecilia spent the night dancing with Evan French, who wasn't. Ceci also managed to avoid fights or trouble for the evening. She also managed to sneak in a bottle of Lil's nectar, and emptied it in to the fruit punch bowl. She had had trouble understanding the concept of a prom and had done some reading up on it before the event.

John had gotten into a few fights, despite being a pacifist, he handled himself well. Nathan had taught him some self defense maneuvers in primary school.

Chris also got into a fight after giving a compliment to someone else's date. And another fight when he accidentally stood on someone's toes. And another fight when someone bumped into him.

Nathan got into a dozen fights, some of which were rescuing either John or Nick, who both seemed to be bully magnets tonight. And Nathan started a few himself.

Nick was voted as Prom King, not surprising as almost every girl there voted for him.
Shortly after he got into a fight, luckily Nathan and Chris came to his rescue.

Authors Note:

Proms, just totally broken. This was the best one ever!

Two of the eight didn't get into the limo. I had to teleport them to the venue and send those two through the door. Everybody wore the (favorite color coded) formal outfits I spent about three hours doing. That's new.
Most of them didn't get prom photos in inventory, not new. Lucky I can use S3PE to snag the _IMG files.
Girls got romance, boys got rejected. Would I be cynical if I said not new?

But the worst were the non stop fight message spam, every body had at least three fights except Lilli-Rose and Ceci. Whats up with that EA? next prom, I might have to send them with boxing gloves or martial arts outfits.

Oh, and Natalie's car did vanish, but from the garage. I checked everyone for it and no dice, the next RL day when I loaded my save I saw it go past, hence the screencap.... no driver.... ghost burglar?

Again, whats up with that EA?

Also, I haven't made much of an effort to reveal teen traits here, because they are all listed in the poll, which will go up shortly.

  1. Ah, the age-old stolen car glitch! I've never had it happen, but I usually don't buy cars. In a land of free taxis that'll take you anywhere, why bother?

I must admit, I laughed when the Grim Reaper butted his way into the line-up. Then I was sad because Casey and Marcus! No!

I don't know why EA thinks there are so many fights at prom. None of the school dances I ever attended had more than one fight, and most not even that, but every time I send a sim teenager to prom they get into at least a couple. I think Dylan had two and Ayla had three. It's ridiculous!

  2. I have 80 or 90 CC cars from Fresh Prince creations from Mustangs to Porches and maybe a dozen more cars from other sources, and while I have had cars vanish from parking spots before this is the first time the game has actually taunted me with it by having it do a driveby...

I've seen the occasional prom fight message for NPC's, but never brawls en masses. (This would by my dozenth prom.)

Casey went first then Marcus the following morning, then Skitty in the afternoon.
